UNESCO Official Admits Palestinian As a Member

This will increase the bargaining position of the Palestinians to receive recognition as a country.

Board of education and culture UN or UN Educational, Scientific and CulturalOrganisation (UNESCO) decided to give full membership to the Palestinian institutions,Monday, October 31, 2011.

As published by Reuters on Monday night, this will raise the Palestinian bargaining position to gain recognition as a state of the United Nations (UN).

UNESCO is the UN agency for Palestinian targeted first obtain full membership status,since President Mahmoud Abbas to register membership in the UN on 23 September 2011.

As is known, the United States, Canada, and Germany opposed the Palestinianmembership in the UN. Meanwhile, Brazil, Russia, China, India, South Africa, and Frenchsupport. England while still abstained.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that UNESCO is not entitled to accept the Palestinians as a member, because it has not recognized the status of his country by the United Nations.

"I'm confused, how can the UN agency in the nation status when making decisions on this issue was deliberated at the United Nations. I think the procedure is very strange. Statusstate must be specified in the UN and not by the agency under the United Nations," saidClinton beginning in October 2011 .

Status of Palestine at UNESCO since 1974 was an observer. In addition to diplomaticadvantage, if a member of UNESCO, the Palestinian government be able to registermonuments or historic areas in their country to become one of the World Heritage Site
